"It's with great regret and disappointment that I will not perform at this Saturday's G-A-Y. Following recent events, it has been decided that this performance should be pulled from my schedule," a statement posted on her website said.
"I''ve been really looking forward to performing at G-A-Y as it's something I've always wanted to do, however after much consideration the last thing I want to do is put on a show which I am not completely happy with, so with a disappointed Jeremy Joseph, I would like to apologise to everyone who was planning on coming to see me and I will see you all again very soon," the statement further said.

Bret Michaels Remains Hospitalized- After Singer's website says '

Bret Michaels, the reality TV star and frontman of the glam-metal band Poison, remained hospitalized in critical condition Saturday after suffering a brain hemorrhage, according to his website.
"There are several incorrect reports on Bret's condition," read the Saturday posting on bretmichaels.com. "Bret remains in critical condition at an undisclosed location. Further tests are being ran and information will be updated in the coming days."
Michaels, 47, former star of VH1's "Rock of Love With Bret Michaels" and current "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant, initially was hospitalized at an undisclosed facility Thursday after suffering a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage, or bleeding at the base of his brain stem, his publicist confirmed to ABCNews.com Friday.

Michaels was in critical condition and under "intense observation" by doctors while they run tests to determine the cause of his bleeding, People magazine reported.
The new medical woes come on the heels of an emergency appendectomy Michaels received after falling ill before a concert April 11.

When the Christmas decorations and merchandise pop up in the stores right after Halloween, Jennifer Hudson is not one of those Grinches who complains about it being too early.
''Not me! I love it,'' said the Oscar and Grammy winner, calling the Sun-Times the other day. ''I can't wait for Christmas to start. I love everything about it -- the decorations, the excitement, how beautiful everything looks, but most of all the music.''
The entertainer is excited to be hosting her first holiday special (7 p.m. Monday, WLS-Channel 7). ''And it's totally in my own hometown,'' the Chicago native said, clearly enthusiastic to show the nation ''my city, my Chicago, and in a way that, I hope, lets everyone get to know me a little better . . . the real me, not just the person they've seen in 'Dreamgirls' or read about in some magazine."
Perhaps the most thrilling part of showcasing ''the real'' Jennifer for Hudson was her return to her high school alma mater, Dunbar Vocational Career Academy on South King Drive. ''I cannot believe it's been 10 years since I graduated. When we went back there to tape the special, it felt like I had just left yesterday,'' Hudson said, stressing she feels a huge debt to the South Side school.
''It was at Dunbar where I first dared to dream of becoming an artist, where I really discovered that this is what I wanted to do.
''It was where I began to grow -- singing at school assemblies, ball games and all kinds of events.''
That became evident to Tony Eaton, the veteran Hollywood player who is the executive producer of ''Jennifer Hudson: I'll Be Home for Christmas.''
''I have to say, I've known many artists, and they can be caught up in themselves and very remote. But Jennifer is one of the warmest, most genuine human beings I've ever worked with -- and that was particularly evident when we filmed at Dunbar.
''She was so obviously delighted to see those kids [at the school]. She told me, 'I just feel so much at home here.' ''
For Hudson, another special filming locale was Evergreen Plaza in Evergreen Park, ''the mall where I first sang in public. It was so great to be back on that little platform.
''Back then, that was what I thought would be the height of where Jennifer Hudson would go in show business!''
Perhaps the most powerful location showcased in the special is Hudson's longtime spiritual home, Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church -- scene of musical triumphs and personal tragedies. That's where her mother, nephew and brother were eulogized after their tragic murders last year.
''I thought I was going to sing to an empty church,'' Hudson said. ''But when I walked out to sing 'Joy to the World' and saw the church filled with friends from grammar school and family members -- I couldn't even look at them, or else I would never have gotten through it.
''It was really an emotional moment.''
She also shot at Navy Pier, "where I have always loved that Ferris wheel," and on Michigan Avenue, "with those beautiful lights that always made me feel like I was starring in my very own Christmas movie,'' Hudson added with a laugh. ''I think it really shows who I am and lets me express my true personality. Plus we've got Michael Buble too!''
The Grammy-winning ''Crazy Love'' crooner was ''a total treat to work with,'' Hudson said. ''I think he's the perfect voice to capture that pure, traditional sound you want for a Christmas special.''

Distance learning has come a long way. Once the domain of dubious “as seen on TV” correspondence courses promising diplomas in such arcane disciplines as air conditioning installation and VCR and gun repair, distance education has entered the mainstream. Today, institutions ranging from the Ivy Leagues to local K-12 programs offer virtual coursework on their Websites, iTunes, YouTube and Second Life. Originally designed for working adults, online courses are now a real component of every phase of “traditional” education, and for a generation brought up on the Internet, the transition is seamless. According to the U.S. Department of Education, 66 percent of post-secondary learning institutions offer distance learning programs, with 12.2 million enrollments in college-level credit-granting distance education courses in 2006-07.
At Berklee College of Music, distance learning tools are a far cry from the mail-in music theory correspondence courses the school offered back in the ’50s, but the goals are the same: to connect Berklee’s instructors and curricula with a global network of musicians. According to Debbie Cavalier, Berklee’s Dean of Continuing Education, the scope and learning outcomes for Berkleemusic.com courses are similar to Berklee’s face-to-face environment, but the path to get there is different. “We’ve structured our online courses to address many different learning modalities,” she says. “Text, audio, video, live chat, discussion board activities, Flash interactions and hands-on projects are all provided throughout the lessons to help students gain knowledge through their preferred learning style.”

At Berkleemusic, students can enroll in individual classes or work toward an intensive three-course Specialist Certificate; four, five or six-course Professional Certificate; or an eight, nine or 12-month Master Certificate. I think distance education actually prepares you for that new world, where you are working with people who you don’t see, people you are not in the same room with.”

Ultimately, online education is just like most things in life: What you get out of it is in direct proportion to what you put into it. “It is an utter myth that online or distance learning is simply a bunch of resources made available online — it is not,” says Hambly. “What is essential is carefully crafted pedagogical systems where a relationship forms between the student and his or her peers and learning advisor. If potential students find that the courses are without appropriate advisor moderation and guidance, my advice is to stay well clear of them as you will not be getting a valuable educational experience. It is in the interaction, or, ‘social learning,’ where the real learning takes place.”

If this telegenic confession tells the real story, Rihanna did not turn away from Brown to protect herself. She did so to shepherd the fans who follow her less significant choices -- in hairstyle, clothes and runway-ready attitude -- away from making a big mistake, as she had.

That's a remarkable admission of distance from her own wounded heart, and a fascinating peek into how celebrities relate to the "personal" lives they now must live almost completely within the public eye.

Rihanna made the right choice, for herself and for those fans about whom she cares so deeply, when she walked away from Brown. She's making more good decisions now, managing her return to the spotlight with dignity and that icy poise for which she's famous. (I also like her risky new single, "Russian Roulette," though my colleague August Brown has some questions about it; you can read his powerful analysis here.)

But isn't it telling that she is spinning her own self-preservation as a move to save other women's lives? Many pop stars shun the mantle of role model; here is a 21-year-old, often accused in the media of being a cipher for her producers and management team, who is not only stepping up to that responsibility but also making it the reason she should nurture herself.

Admirable. Disturbing. Do we want our entertainers to feel our needs so acutely? The feminist in me applauds Rihanna for going on a major network program and telling young women to firmly resist the lure of a dangerous love, to learn to separate themselves from the myths of romance that, in fact, pop songs so often reinforce.

But another part of me wonders why she's telling us she had to step outside herself to take this stand. Rihanna uses words like "embarrassing" and "humiliating" -- words of shame, not of pain or helplessness -- to describe how Brown's assault made her feel. She may say something very different to her family and other intimates. But what we see is a young woman who's finding her greatest strength by remembering that others are always watching her.

But what if, hypothetically, “Roulette” is really, truly, how Rihanna feels about herself, her self-worth and what she wants out of her relationships? No one questions the difficulty of what she’s going through, nor her instinct to trawl the darkest corners of her psyche and public profile for material. By acknowledging these self-destructive feelings, she could help other victims know they aren’t isolated in such thoughts. The best art engenders empathy among its audience, and even the bleakest songs about abuse can work toward those ends. But other such close reads of "Roulette" have to compete with a much bigger and emotionally powerful explanation of the song. It’s tough to see many fans walking away from this reserved and demanding single – filled in by events in Rihanna’s public profile — without an image of abuse that suggests it’s a reflection on your worth as a woman.

Rihanna doesn’t owe us anything, of course, and is entirely entitled to sing about her abuse and emotions about it any way she pleases, even if (especially if?) it makes us deeply uncomfortable. There are many directions on the moral compass that get us to a better understanding of the human heart, and sometimes the best art sets the worst examples. But one wonders if, by sticking to what she has done best – using images suggesting she’s at the mercy of others -- Rihanna made the most of a truly unique opportunity to show us something more of herself.

This is all compounded, again, by how little Rihanna offers us here in the way of clues to decode the song. All the subtext in “Roulette” is inserted by the listener, and that seems entirely purposeful from her and Ne-Yo. While that’s a fascinating device, I’m not sure it does justice to the severity of what a listener naturally will take away from the song. Rihanna is exploring some of the most fraught psychological terrain in human relationships, but she intentionally pulls back whenever any detail threatens to get specific. The silvery detachment of the music – distant reverbs, ephemeral voices -- only adds to the effect. “Roulette” is a song about feeling depersonalized, but it doesn’t offer much forward momentum in exploring that feeling — it just is depersonalized.

Our tabloid-and-Twitter culture has made Rihanna's whole life a performance. Now, she is throwing that reality back in our faces, and we too can feel some embarrassment. Every Web surfer who clicked on the famous picture of her bruised face after the assault contributed to Rihanna's humiliation. Rihanna may be too polite, and too media-savvy, to point that out. But her guarded moves make it clear that her well-earned instinct to flinch remains.

Farrow said 62-year-old John is suffering from a "bad case of the flu and a minor case of E. coli." His Web site says he was advised by his doctor to postpone dates in Seattle and Portland.

The Daily Mail's Web site quoted John's partner, David Furnish, as saying "He's OK — he's fine," after leaving a London hospital.

Farrow says the singer has rescheduled previously canceled dates during the European leg of his world tour.

Bon Jovi announced a two-year world tour on Thursday that will include 30 countries and 135 cities, including Chicago. "The Circle World Tour," named after the band's upcoming album, "The Circle," comes to Soldier Field on July 30, 2010.
Bon Jovi played three shows at the United Center in Feb. 2008 during the "Lost Highway" tour, but that was only the band's second tour with AEG Live. According to AEG Live President and CEO Randy Phillips, this upcoming tour is going to be better for obvious reasons.
"It is often said that the third time is a charm, and in the case of the Bon Jovi/AEG Live relationship, this axiom certainly holds," Phillips said by press release. "AEG Live has been honored to serve as the band's worldwide tour promoters, from the 2005 'Have A Nice Day' tour to the highest grossing tour of 2008, 'Lost Highway,' to the upcoming 'The Circle World Tour' in 2010. Bon Jovi is one of the most prolific and exciting live rock bands in the world."

The single, “This Is It,” will be posted on Jackson’s official Web Site at 12:00 a.m. New York time Monday. The site says it is “a brand new song” that “marks yet another exciting moment in music history for one of the world’s most revered artists; featuring backing vocals by Michael’s brothers.”
Jackson, 50, who died in June, sold 750 million records worldwide in his lifetime. The “King of Pop” was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the Most Successful Entertainer of All Time, according to Sony Music Entertainment. In the week after his death, another 5 million albums were ordered, according to Billboard.“This is it/ here I stand/ I’m the light of the world, I feel grand,” Jackson intones on a 40-second clip that has appeared on some Web sites.
The single was planned as the theme of Jackson’s sold-out “This Is It” concerts that would have started this July in London’s O2 Arena. He announced the concerts in March, telling fans “This is it, these will be my final show performances in London.”

English singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse, 26, is to appear on BBC1 One’s Strictly Come Dancing this weekend – as a backing singer for her 13 year old goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield. She has signed to Amys own record label.
Winehouse may not have released any new material since the 10 million-selling Back To Black three years ago, but she is making herself heard on the music scene again after setting up Lioness Records.
Her first release is the debut album by Dionne Bromfield, who sounds like a sweeter, more youthful Winehouse with a collection of 1960s soul and girl group covers.
One of Winehouse's long-time backing singers Zalon Thompson is also expected to join the label after recording a solo album with Back To Black co-producer Mark Ronson.
Winehouse's manager Raye Cosbert recently said Zalon's brother and fellow backing vocalist - and former X Factor hopeful - Heshima would follow.
He has also mentioned the name Juliette, likely referring to Winehouse's close friend Juliette Ashby, who was the other half of rap duo Sweet 'n' Sour with Winehouse when they were 10 years old.
Winehouse wanted to set up a label to "bring through the talent around her", according to Darcus Beese, co-president of Island Records, who signed the singer in 2003.
Dionne Bromfield is the first signing to the Back to Black star’s new record label, Lioness. The pair will stage Bromfield’s first single Mama Said, originally a hit for The Shirelles in 1961.
Bromfield said: “Amy and I both love Strictly… so it was brilliant to find out I’ll be on TV for the first time singing on one of my favourite shows.”
Winehouse, is convinced her goddaughter can have a successful career. “The first time I heard Dionne sing, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing – such an amazing voice from such a young girl. “She’s so much better than I was at her age.”
